ÁRVORES DO BRASIL

$13.00Price

Trees of Brazil presents some of the most important trees in our country. It is a tribute to these true wonders of nature that give us shade and fruit, prevent erosion from destroying our rivers, offer shelter and food to animals and birds, help remove pollutants from the air we breathe and make life more beautiful and flourishing. Launched in 2011, in the International Year of the Forest, the book is a large and colorful parade of fifteen species of trees, three from each Brazilian biome: pau-brasil, araucaria, jequitibá, ipê-do cerrado, buriti, Jatobá-do-cerrado, juazeiro, mulungu, umbuzeiro, ipê-roxo, jenipapo, pau-formiga, castanheira-do-pará, piquiá and mahogany. Each tree received a poem, an illustration and the company of an animal that maintains some life relationship with it: it feeds on the fruits and leaves, seeks shelter, helps spread seeds or hunts insects that live in the trunks. At the end, the book brings scientific names and texts about the height they can reach, main characteristics and uses of wood, how the fruits are consumed by man, problems they face in nature and other information.
