VIZINHO, VIZINHA
He reads comics and makes a paper city. She plays the clarinet and raises a rhinoceros. The two live in the same building, on Rua do Desassossego, they meet every day in the building's hall and talk about the weather, but soon they each go about their own business. A story about life in a big city.
Presentation
Neighbor, neighbor shows what separates and what unites people in metropolises. At Rua do Desassossego, 38, the neighborhood is very quiet. In apartment 101, a young man reads comics, drinks coffee and builds a paper city. He doesn't even notice the rumor of the neighbor in 102, who plays the clarinet, raises a rhinoceros under the sink and collects books and old things. They only see each other at the end of the afternoon, when they meet in the hall, exchange greetings and talk about the weather. Afterwards, they go to sort things out in the city - and soon they're back to their nonsense, secretiveness and quirks. How will they escape loneliness? Through Companhia das Letrinhas, Roger Mello also published Too much care! and Meninos do mangue, Jabuti Prize 2002 in the Children's Literature and Illustration categories.
