Fifty-two myths and legends - one for each week of the year - tell stories from the five regions of Brazil. On the side of the pages, informative tables clarify and deepen subjects that appear in the narratives and teach about the country's history, geography and economy.

Silvana Salerno thus begins the presentation of Journey through Brazil in 52 Stories, a volume that brings together traditional legends and folk tales from our country.
Anthropologists, ethnographers, researchers and folklorists - such as Herbert Baldus, Egon Schaden, Cláudio and Orlando Villas-Boas, Darci Ribeiro, João Ribeiro, Basílio de Magalhães, Afonso Arinos, Artur Ramos, Sílvio Romero and Mário de Andrade - served as inspiration for these stories that cover the five regions of Brazil, creating a panel of our popular culture. Each narrative is permeated with explanatory tables illustrated with photos and drawings that, on the sides of the pages, provide information about the country's geography, botany, zoology, history, economy and culture.
Number 52 was chosen so that the reader has a new story to read every week, for an entire year, traveling from Amapá to Rio Grande do Sul, traveling through villages and metropolises, interiors and capitals, beaches, forests and backlands. There are varied stories - a representative mix of the different peoples that made Brazil a plural and ethnically multifaceted country - such as "Cobra Norato", "The story of guaraná", "O romãozinho", "A Moura pie", "João Mata-Sete", "A Rainha do Mar", "O amigo-da-onça", "A legenda do mate", "O Negrinho do Pastoreio", the story of São Sepé, that of Zumbi, that of Lampião, that of the priest Cicero, among many, many others.
