REINAÇÕES DE NARIZINHO

REINAÇÕES DE NARIZINHO

It is no surprise that Monteiro Lobato admitted that, despite the title dedicated to Narizinho, Emília was the one who really reigned in the stories. Not even the most respected author in all of Brazilian children's literature could master the ragdoll's antics in dozens of adventures filled with the richest national mythology. there Narizinho, Pedrinho, the Viscount, Rabicó, Tia Nastácia, and, of course, Emília, who leads all the antics in a mix of reality and fantasy, bringing to the scene classic characters from world children's literature, such as Cinderella, Snow White, Felix the Cat, all illustrious guests at each of the parties.  In the new edition, the maintenance of the syntax and vocabulary of the 1931 original stands out, which resulted in a precious and necessary reference for the Lobatian debates of current times.

The fascination and charm maintained for almost a century and which have captured generations and generations of children come, above all, from the simplicity of the narratives, as if each of us were composing what happened before and what will happen after. In our most sincere and pure language, which, due to Lobato's unique style of founding stories in a fluid and timeless Portuguese, ends up becoming a product of the natural spontaneity of our first creative acts.

Mayumi Okuyama's graphic design closely follows this journey through time and dialogues with previous editions of Globo Livros, whether in typography or illustrations. The consultancy of researcher Vladimir Sacchetta, one of the pioneers in the crusade for the valorization of Lobato's typically Brazilian characters, enriched an edition that will serve as a reference both for those initiated into Lobato matters and for those who are taking their first steps in the master's works.

A classic of make-believe, in the same measure as an Aesop or a La Fontaine, Reinações de Narizinhostill reigns supreme when we think about the project of national children's literature. There are the characters that have populated our imagination for so long, brought together entirely in a single volume, and that have taught and continue to teach us to learn through play, instigating the curiosity that is typical of childhood and awakening a taste for reading and knowledge.
