O INVASOR

O INVASOR

$17.00Price

A little noise disturbs the silence of the forest. The tiger alerts the elephant, the zebra, the squirrel, the giraffe, and a few more animals. One by one, they join the group — the book plays with the idea of accumulating characters in each scene — as they climb a mountain, enter a cave, and dive into a river, all trying to escape the mysterious invader chasing them.

Winner of the 1st Filex Prize for Illustration and Picture Books, and now published by Boitatá, O Invasor (The Invader) is almost a playful exchange between the book as an object and its reader — or perhaps a humorous critique of the interaction between humans and nature.

O Invasor stood out among the 520 projects submitted to the award’s first national edition. According to the jury — composed of writer and translator Nina Rizzi (Brazil), editor Ariana Squilloni (Italy-Spain), illustrator Piet Grobler (South Africa), author and researcher Odilon Moraes (Brazil), and artist and curator Flávia Bomfim (Brazil) — the book presents a mature composition: “There’s great freedom in the way it plays with colors and characters. The project draws us in with its sophistication and sense of humor. The reader is invited to join the narrative game, blurring the lines between fiction and reality.”
