MINHA ÁRVORE DE ESTIMAÇÃO
Lili has only one birthday wish: a pet tree. She promises her father she'll take good care of it with plenty of sunshine and fresh water. But she has no idea how much her unusual new companion will transform the entire neighborhood.
Jorge is Lili's new pet tree. Riding together through the city in a wheelbarrow, the two friends explore their surroundings, meeting neighbors and animals who happily stop to rest in Jorge's shade—after all, he's the only tree on the street.
Before long, Lili's friends want pet trees of their own. Day by day, the children create a little traveling forest that wanders through the city, turning gray streets into vibrant, leafy spaces. As word spreads, more and more people join in, bringing plants, flowers, and new life to the urban landscape.
Inspired by the Bosk project, in which a thousand trees were planted in movable wooden planters and paraded through the streets of a Dutch city, award-winning author and illustrator Marie-Louise Gay combines painting, drawing, and collage to tell a heartwarming story about community, environmental stewardship, and the power of small actions. My Pet Tree reminds readers that changing the world can begin with a single act of courage—and one tree at a time.
