At the bottom of the sea live mermen and mermaids, who swim together among sunken ships, but are separated at several other times: the mermen practice throwing tridents while the mermaids weave blankets of algae, they play the conch shell while they study singing… Among them there is a character confused by this divided world. As if being half human, half fish wasn't enough, he also needs to deal with his conflicting feelings. “There’s a tidal wave inside me,” he says. The beautiful and delicate illustrations by Elisa Carareto that follow the concerns and feelings of this character who is at once so mythical and so contemporary.
