In Of the War of the Seas and Sands Pedro Veludo tells a charming fable about the mechanism of tides in the early days of the Earth. The eternal coming and going of the waves over the sand appears as a conflict, a battle between the characters. But the pink whelk proposes a balance between the noisy seas and the silent sands. The small shell also suggests the Moon as mediator of the peace agreement, being responsible for regulating the tides. Murilo Silva, to illustrate Veludo's poetic text, embarked on the spiral movements of the cowries and created patterns for the characters. The beautiful colors of nature, expressed in these spirals that multiply, create a delicious sensation of movement and three-dimensionality.
