CANÇOES, PARLENDAS, QUADRINHAS, PARA CRIANÇAS NOVINHAS

In this volume, Ruth Rocha brought together verses from the popular, oral tradition of Brazil. The book is divided into seven parts: “Road Songs”, “Talries”, “Counting to Choose”, “Lullaby Songs”, “Messing with Animals”, “Comics”, “Small Songs”. And in them we find everything: from “Batatinha when born/ Spread across the floor”, which everyone has heard, to lesser-known verses, like these here, so funny:
 
“— Preguiça, do you want porridge?
— I want, I want, I want!
— Then come and get it. I want it!”
 
As Ruth herself explains in the opening text, it is “important to keep our traditions alive and I remember these little memories from my childhood with joy. That's why I want many children to share them.”

How cool that she shared all these treasures with us, isn't it?
