BANDEIRA DE SÃO JOÃO

Based on popular games from the northeast region, the authors created a fun and wise theatrical play, which, despite its juvenile appearance, is written for all ages.
 
After working the land and planting the seeds, there is nothing more joyful than harvesting the fruits. Brazilian June festivals, especially in the Northeast, celebrate prosperity and abundant harvests. Bandeira de São João, by Ronaldo Correia de Brito and Assis Lima, tells, in a simple and metaphorical narrative, the story of the disappearance of the sun, which hid leaving the earth dark and sad. The Groom and the Bride were going to get married by the light of a bonfire, but they get lost. The Corn Doll does not ripen on the cob and the Uanari bird no longer sings. There is only one way to bring the joy back, hold the wedding and dance a square dance, finding the sun. The characters go through several tests in this quest, without losing their courage and their dream. Bandeira de São João talks about maturity and the obstacles that each individual must overcome to live better.
