Originally published in 1968, The Woman Who Killed the Fish is a book about loss, animals and a mother who is not afraid to tell the truth. Clarice let her son's fish starve, admits her guilt and is asking for forgiveness. It would all be very simple if this weren't a story for children.

Narrating in the first person, in a relaxed tone, the author presents a frank character committed to the children's universe. In order to gain forgiveness from her children and readers, Clarice, the writer and protagonist, begins to tell, in a very confessional way, stories about animals of all types. They are animals that inhabit the daily lives and imagination of children. Not all the stories are happy, but there is affection in the words that talk about death, life and separation, the driving themes of the stories.

The new edition features illustrations by Mariana Valente, Clarice Lispector's granddaughter. The artist and designer uses collage as a language to create images that challenge children's eyes. The mix of historical references and elements gives the final result a bold and contemporary aesthetic. Furthermore, the graphic design invites the reader to dive into Clarice's universe when it uses a typology that refers to the author's typewriter.

The woman who killed the fish was already mandatory reading for lovers of intelligent and quality children's literature. Therefore, this new edition comes as a gift both for parents, who knew this story in their own childhood, and for children who will have the opportunity to learn about it in this beautiful project.
