In this children's narrative, the impartial ball Fura-Redes - enemy number one from zero to zero - ends up falling in love with Bilô-Bilô, a goalkeeper who is always at odds with the balls. With good humor and romanticism, The ball and the goalkeeper shows that two beings with opposite vocations can fall in love.

The goalkeeper Bilô-Bilô was astonishingly incompetent under the goalposts. He played for a badass team and collected embarrassing nicknames: Mão-Furada, Mão-Rotten, King-of-the-Chicken. The Bora-Redes ball, in turn, was the joy of the scorers. He scored Olympic goals, with letters, with a bicycle, with dry leaves. And their nicknames were acclaiming: Esfera Mágica, Pelota Invencível and Redonda Infernal. 
In this children's narrative, written in 1984, Jorge Amado tells how two characters who usually live at odds can fall in love. Here, the impartial Fura-Redes meets the clumsy Bilô-Bilô, and begins to live a dilemma: will he have the audacity to prevent the King of Football's thousandth goal to cuddle in the arms of his beloved?
To illustrate this good-humored and romantic story, the edition features drawings by graphic artist Kiko Farkas.
